1. Start by removing the steering nut. Using the wiper arm bracket as a template mark two holes in the triple clamp. The wiper arm bracket should be perpendicular to the center line of the fork legs. A straight edge will help you determine this line of reference.

Torque Spec's

  • M5 Bolt - 6 N.m. / 4 ft. lbs.

  • M6 Bolt - 10 N.m. / 7 ft. lbs.

  • M8 Bolt - 22 N.m. / 17 ft. lbs.

  • Steering Lock Nut - 100 N.m. / 76 ft. lbs.

2. Mark a 3mm drill bit at 8.5mm from the tip. This will be the depth of the two holes you will need to drill. When finished, the pins should sit flush with the surface of the wiper arm bracket. Before drilling be sure to block the airbox to prevent any metal shaving from falling in. A ragged stuffed into the opening works just fine.

Please note, some versions of these steering dampers may use only one pin to secure the steering nut bracket.
