3. Install the gas tank mounting
bracket using the M6 x 35mm bolts provided with the kit, torque to 7 ft.
lbs. Be sure to tighten the "grub" screw and torque to 7 ft.
lbs. as well. The "grub" screw prevents the gas tank mounting
bracket from rocking back and forth. Be sure to apply a thread locking
compound to the bolts. |
|
4. Install the wiper arm bracket
and "C" pins onto the triple clamp. To prevent marring the
steering nut cover the sides and top with masking tape. Next, install
the steering nut and torque to 76 ft. lbs. Be sure the steering nut has
anti-seize compound applied to the threads. |
|
5. Install the rubber ring onto
the wiper arm bracket. |
|
6. Install the steering damper
body bracket onto the wiper arm bracket using the M6 x 16mm bolt and
torque to 7 ft. lbs. Be sure to apply a thread locking compound to the
bolts. Please note that some dampers feature an offset bracket
(ex. CBR954RR) that clamps around the damper body. If this bracket is
installed backward the damper will not fit properly. Simply turn this
bracket around to install properly. |
|
7. Slide the steering damper
through the steering damper body bracket and secure the end of the
steering damper to the gas tank mounting bracket using the provided M6 x
16 bolt. Be sure to apply a thread locking compound to the bolt. Adjust
the steering damper to allow full steering in both directions
(lock-to-lock). Also, be sure to adjust the steering damper so it does
not hit the gas tank. Once this is done tighten the two pinch bolts on
the steering damper body bracket to 4 ft. lbs. Please note the
orientation of the heim joint on the end of the damper rod. The offset is
to be installed toward the bracket. Failure to install the heim joint
properly will result in damage to the heim joint.
